Your explanation is VERY CLEAR, especially the part that very simple functions are LEFT off. So good, why can't it *sound* good too?!?! Microsoft, It's time you wake up and listen to the music! Bring back full MIDI support and mapping as it is essential to *business*!!! You have provided us with the new WASAPI, but is that really for Pro-audio? ARG! You make Windows look Microsoft has pretty much destroyed it's reputation with musicians and audio engineers and it's quite obvious they don't really It is outrageous to declare an essential part of business as legacy and remove it when so many people still rely on it. So has MIDI in general been declared as *legacy*? As soon as I read that I knew a lot of people would go through the stages of confusion, denial and then anger after realizing Microsoft's mistake. It said that legacy devices and drivers such as MPU-401 would not be supported I remember reading an article maybe a few years ago that said MIDI support was being removed from future versions of windows. I fully agree that this is not a solution.
